Misuse of Bailout Funds and Ways to Prevent the Inappropriate Use of

Essays on Misuse of Bailout Funds and Ways to Prevent the Inappropriate Use of Assistance Funds - Developing Ethical and Transparent Aid Policies to Maintain Investor Confidence Term Paper Misuse of bailout funds Bailout funds refer to monetary advances to the financial industry to boost performance or solve a financial crisis. This paper seeks to explore misuse of bailout funds. The paper will discuss reported cases of misuse of bailout funds and possible solutions to the cases. Fear of misuse of bailout funds Misuse of bailout funds entails application of the funds for alternative purposes other than the intended. The year 2008 presented an example of a threat to misuse of bailout funds. Almost immediately after federal legislation for rescuing banks, politicians cited possibility of misuse. While the bailout, according to the then â€Å"chairman of the house financial services,† was meant to boost bank’s lending capacity, there were fears that the advances would be used for different purposes including paying shareholders’ returns and expansion of the banks. The situation was however blamed on flaws in the legislations that provided for the bailout (Noguchi, p. 1). One of the possible ways to preventing misuse of bailout funds is development of ethical and transparent policies in granting bailouts because the advances has an effect on investors’ confidence. Another possible solution to predicted misuse of bailout funds is restraint from conflict of interest in formulation and implementation of bailout policies. Developing transparent and ethical policies has the advantage of facilitating confidence in investors for availability of supplementary funds for the institutions. As a result, funds from bailout would be limited to their intended purpose. This measure however lacks legal authority to regulate banks’ use of the availed funds. Absence of conflict of interest in either the banks or the government on the other hand has the advantage of minimizing misappropriation though it also lacks authoritative control of misuse of the bailed funds (Painter, p. 132). The available measures to preventing possible misuse of bailout funds, transparency, and ethics, and lack of conflicting interest, are inadequate because they lack authority over application of such funds. Actual instance of misuse of bailout funds An actual misuse of bailout funds was however realized in the year 2009 following federal government’s initiative in the previous year to aid the then crippled financial industry. While the government granted bailout funds to increase banks’ lending, the banks reportedly used part of the funds to â€Å"make investments, repay debts, or buy other banks† (Appelbaum, p. 1). Investigative report indicated that more than 75 percent of banks misused their receipt of bailout funds and recommended close supervision of the financial institutions following advancements, a move that the treasury was not keen to adopt (Appelbaum, p. 1). Possible solutions to controlling running misuse include treasury’s call for regular submission of statements by the recipient banks and congress’ sensitivity to predictabilities. While the treasury, in its supervisory role, can monitor and control the misuse, its strict authority over financial institutions may be illegal. Similarly, the congress can provide legislations to control such misuse but such legislations normally have flaws (Appelbaum, p. 1; Commoncause, p. 1). Misuse of bailout funds are predictable occurrences that possibly controllable or preventable by either the congress or the treasury. The systems are however, weak to take comprehensive effect the control measures. Works cited Appelbaum, Binyamin. â€Å"Financial rescue I.G. says banks funneled TARP aid to various expences.† The Washington Post. 20 July 2009. Web. 02 June 2012. . Commoncause. On the other hand, the Brain writing tool should be done within 30n minutes. The leader must describe the problem to the participants and each parson needs to write down few ideas (Fink et al. 2012). In the next step, they need to pass those to others and get their idea reviewed and amended. Lastly, the leader needs to collect the papers and select the idea. Origins of Political Parties free essay sample

Reasons for parties emergence despite Founding Fathers efforts to prevent them their divisiveness. This research addresses the question of why, despite George Washingtons warnings, political parties emerged in the United States so soon after the nations establishment. Political parties are among the most researched yet elusive political institutions in the United States. Parties are not sanctioned in the U.S. Constitution as legitimate institutions of government, yet they have become a centerpiece of political life. In Western Europe, parties perform rather obvious functions in government. European parties are most distinctive as cadre organizations in which dues-paying members, staff, candidates and officeholders often interact in a face-to-face setting. The party-in-organization can be a powerful institution in promoting candidacies and disciplining its member and officeholders. American parties are very different. With few exceptions, no..

Welfare Reform essays

Welfare Reform essays The article The Shrinking Welfare State: The New Welfare Legislation and Families takes a look at the welfare reform that occurred starting in 1996. This article keys in on the negative outcomes that have resulted from welfare reform, and attempts to establish alternatives. I found this article to be very interesting, and it allowed me the opportunity to look at welfare with a much different perspective. It has always been my opinion that welfare is just a means to keep people comfortable with living at the poverty level. If the government is willing to provide something for nothing, why aspire to do anything more? This article has opened my eyes to a great deal of information that I would not have otherwise sought out on the topic of welfare, and has also altered some of my previous opinions on the welfare system. It has always been my opinion that the welfare system is too lenient. It gives individuals a safety net with no expectation that they will first attempt to fly on their own. With unemployment compensation individuals are required to continue looking for gainful employment, and the benefits will only be provided for a set amount of time. In the original welfare system there was no time limit, and no obligation to find work. Mothers were provided with more financial assistance with each child they delivered, which in my opinion promoted the idea of having more children to make more money. I found it very interesting that since 1970, the average monthly payment from AFDC has decreased by almost 50 percent, and that in states with lower benefits rates the illegitimacy rate is higher (cited in Post, Lawrence, ...

Walmart Research Paper Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 2500 words

Walmart - Research Paper Example Thus, the legacy of Wal-Mart began with this legendary entrepreneur and former military veteran Sam Moore Walton. He opened his first store in 1962 in Rogers, Arkansas. Wal-Mart grew significantly in the 1970s (Murphy, 2008). The first Wal-Mart distribution and official Wal-Mart Home Office opened in Bentonville, Arkansas in 1971. Forbes magazine ranked Wal-Mart number one among competitors for the eighth year straight in 1983. Walton had invested 345% of the capital just to open the first Wal-Mart store. On April 5, 1992, Sam Walton passed away. Just before his passing President George H.W. Bush presented him with the Medal of Freedom during a ceremony at Wal-Mart headquarters, this award is the nation’s highest civilian honor (Soderquist, 2005). International success Ever since then, Wal-Mart grew to twenty four stores in Arkansas, and had already reached up to $12.6 in sales. By 1968, Wal-Mart had opened its stores outside Arkansas in Missouri, Oklahoma, Claremore and Sikes ton. To this date Wal-Mart International Operations expand a cross twenty six markets. However, it was soon known as the top most retailing outlet in the world. Wal-Mart had seen immense growth ever since it was opened. The strategies and the milestone were right on the track of perfection. The history of Wal-Mart is the perfect example to learn how to manage growth without losing sight of your values. Wal-Mart stock was offered for the first time in New York Stock Exchange in 1972 (Frank, 2006). With this infusion of capital, Wal-Mart grew to about 276 stores in 11 states within a decade. By the 1980’s, the Sam’s Club members-warehouse store was opened. Then the first Supercenter was opened in 1988, which features a complete grocery and 36 departments of general merchandise. The sales had grown immensely from $1 billion to $26 billion only in 1980. In the 21st century, there are 10, 185 Wal-Mart stores throughout the globe in 27 countries, 2.2 million associates emplo yed and more than 176 million customers a year. Internal and External analysis Walton knew that the major factor that has to be controlled is the payroll. If he wanted to continue keeping the costs down, he had to clearly look into the payrolls and the recruitment. Walton wrote in his autobiography, "No matter how you slice it in the retail business, payroll is one of the most important parts of overhead, and overhead is one of the most crucial things you have to fight to maintain your profit margin." The way Walton controlled the payrolls was to hire as less people as he could, and pay them more than he had to for that job (Robert, 2005). Because of this unique approach, Walton was always opposed by the unions and he had to fight them. He wanted to give the best life to all the Americans whether benefiting them with low priced goods or whether by employing them on a pay above average. His employees nevertheless accepted this and loves working with Walton. Even when Wal-Mart reached other countries, Walton used to travel country to country to keep in touch with his employees. He also gave his employees a stake at the company. He introduced a profit sharing plan that allowed the employees to put in a certain percentage of their wage in the stock purchase. As a truck driver stated that Walton told him 'If you'll just stay with me for twenty years, I guarantee you'll have $100,000 in profit sharing' †¦

Slavery Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 2000 words

Slavery - Essay Example In many bygone civilizations, slavery was the mainstay that enabled them to achieve the glory and reputation that they still enjoy to this day. Ancient civilizations such as those of Egypt, Greece, and the Roman Empire were all built on the backs of thousands of slaves. The modern world’s main superpower would also base its economy, during the early years of its existence, on the institution of slavery. SLAVERY IN THE ANCIENT WORLD Egypt According to Redford, the civilization of Ancient Egypt existed between 5500 B.C. and 332 B.C (Redford 31). During this 4,200-year time line, slaves created numerous structures in the different dynasties; the most famous of which were the pyramids that still remain today. In the course of its colorful existence, the civilization of Ancient Egypt developed an advanced socio-political establishment and even developed schools for its scholars. According to Redford, it is slaves who worked in extremely dangerous conditions, with thousands of them dying in the process, to create structures such as the famous pyramids of Giza (Redford 32). Egyptian records from this bygone era have also shown that slaves were not just presumed to be the property of their masters in the physical earthy life but also their chattels in the afterlife. It was not unusual for the slaves of a rich man, along with his favorite wives, to be murdered upon his death so that they could continue to serve their master in the next life. The most famous account of the existence of slaves in Egypt is found in the Old Testament where the record of the Israelite slaves living in Egypt between 1400 and 1200 BC is documented. It is unlikely that only Jewish slaves were kept in Egypt (Redford 34). There were probably slaves of different ethnicities working in Egypt. From recorded documents, it is evident that there were even instances where poor families sold their children to be slaves in wealthy families. This would ensure that their children were fed constantly while allowing them also to be able to feed the remaining family members. People who ran into debt could also sell themselves into slavery or become the indentured servants of the people whom they owed money. Even though slaves occupied the lowest rung of Egyptian society, the ones who worked for rich masters such as temple priests, wealthy businessmen, or the royal family fared better than the peasants who owned land. This is because peasants had to give a part of their crops as taxes whether they experienced good harvests or not while slaves were dependent on their masters’ largesse. Ancient Greece In ancient Greece, which existed between the Bronze Age and remained until around 1000BC, slavery was also a recognized institution in society. According to Reilly, for every free citizen in Athens there was a slave (Reilly 62). Any male citizen in Greece who had a modest salary could procure the services of a slave to perform duties in his business, as a servant in his home, or even for personal services. In ancient Greece, slaves were often prisoners of war, or people who had been born of slaves. Moreover, there were many slaves who had actually been kidnapped from their home nations and brought to Athens to be sold as slaves or male and female concubines. In city states such as Athens, slaves could aspire to become physicians. They were given more freedom; and, depending on their masters, were treated with respect for the

Cancer Trials: a Social Class and Racial Division in Health

Cancer Trials: a Social Class and Racial Division in Health I. Introduction Individuals of African and Hispanic descent in the United States are not given a fair chance at life due to the inequality of race and social class division within health care institutions. I will demonstrate that there is a class conflict between lower class minorities and upper-class Caucasians within the United States health care system. This will be accomplished by comparing race and class conflict issues with Marxist class conflict theory and W.E.B DuBois racial theory. II. Explanation of Cancer Trials and Minorities In the New York Times article termed, In Cancer Trials, Minorities Face Extra Hurdles, Denise Grady illustrates how minorities are institutionally discriminated against. Grady gives several reasons why cancer trials are disproportionately made up of white individuals, how researchers are aware of this inequality, and how they are trying to correct the problem. One of the biggest concerns of researchers is that many individuals of a lower class status are less educated. In addition, these individuals of a lower class status are sometimes illiterate, do not speak or understand English, suffer from underlying health issues such as obesity or diabetes, or do not have access to resources that those of middle class Caucasian individuals are privy to. Moreover, this creates issues of inequality because some doctors assume that the individuals that are of a lower class and are minorities do not have ability to manage the obstacles that come with the cancer trial study. Some of these obstacle s include, child care, financial burdens for traveling, and taking time off of work for extended periods. However, Dr. Elise Cook stated, One of the biggest barriers is doctors not asking patients to join clinical trials because they assume they would not be candidates, furthermore, she claims that many would participate if they were asked. Dr. Cook also acknowledges that these cancer study trials have advantages that regular treatments do not have, such as frequent visits with doctors and nurses, free trial drugs, and more frequent testing. Additionally, Dr. Margaret Kemeny, an oncologist at Mount Sinai School of Medicine also claims that all patients should have access to research studies and that doctors and researchers should educate their patients so that they have the chance to participate in a study. Furthermore, not educating these patients is a discriminatory action on the part of the caretaker/doctor. Furthermore, the chief medical officer at the American Cancer Society cl aims that attributing less health care to minorities creates a higher death rate that could have been prevented by adequate treatment and care by professionals. III. Conflict Comparison The lack of minorities who are not included in cancer trials reveal a conflicting issue between race and social class. The greatest factor within the health care between social and racial divides is that of a socioeconomic status. The rich are given more opportunities and advantages then the poor, this is a common theme in the American institutional system. Racial and ethnic minorities make up the majority of lower-class society due to oppression and lack of opportunities that can be used to gain upward social mobility. The elite and upper-class are more readily available to gain information and education concerning current medical trials that show progression in health issues. The elite are educated and they have monetary strengths that allow them advantages that the lower-class lack.ÂÂ   While there are other integrated factors, such as underlying health issues and racial disparities the main issue is socioeconomic status. Marxist theory recognizes victims of low-social class as victims of capitalist exploitations. This can be seen in cancer studies as suffering under capitalism, the underprivileged do not have the means to acquire the economic gains in order to receive certain treatments. The rich are given more advanced and adequate options for health care. In contrast, the lower-class are given less options and ill-informed information for resources if any information at all. Similarly, W.E.B. DuBois would attribute these acts as a color line theory. According to DuBois, in America the color line is the division of black and white individuals into two separate unequal parts. Building off of Marxist theory, DuBois focused on the inequality of racial and gender differences. DuBois stated, While together they could have offered a formidable challenge to structures of economic inequality, racial ideology divided the working classes. (Ritzer, Stepnisky 69) The lower-social class is mostly those of racial and ethnic minority backgrounds and therefore this d ivision in social class is also a racial class separation. V. Conclusion Minorities in the United States are unfairly treated in the health care institutions. They are less likely to be considered for trials that could potentially save or extend their lives. This is due to the lack of education that the doctors and health care facilities do not provide to patients that are of lower class minorities. Many doctors will automatically assume that due to the economic status of these individuals that they are not eligible to participate in these cancer trial treatments. By not educating and pushing patients to seek alternative treatments due to social class and racial differences, this creates a conflict for equal health care. THE LOST SHEEP, LOST COIN AND LOST SON Essay -- essays research papers

During Jesus’ life he was teaching in many different ways one of them was telling the parables. Parable is an earthly story with the heavenly meaning. That means that Jesus was making up a story in which there would be a real people, working of doing something that was common at that times. Sometimes he used the values whether material or spiritual, that were valuable in old times. So he was making everything to make the story look more realistic. But under the close of the poor man or woman and under the animal or a subject there was always something mach more complicated, something about his father, himself, and the people that were following the God or not. Jesus was telling the parable pretty often, usually the audience was tax collectors and the â€Å"lost† people that were passing by and stopped to listen Jesus’ stories. He told so many of them, but I think that the most important parables are about The Lost Sheep, Lost Coin and Lost Son. Because, that are the parables where he shows that God Loves the Sinners. Those parables can be read only in Luke. The Lost Sheep and Lost Coin are almost certainly thematically related, along with the parable of The Lost Son, which follows them. Many people are thinking that The Lost Sheep and Lost Coin are actually a double parable. The Russian Bible proves it. In it those parables are written under the same heading. Luke places these parables as an address to both tax collectors and sinners, and Pharisees and teachers of the law who were grumbling about Jesus’ association with those sinners. Thus, the parable becomes a response to the Pharisees’ charges as well as an announcement of the joy of finding the lost. â€Å"Joachim Jeremias includes the parable of the lost coin as an "apologetic parable," or a defense against the critics of Jesus.†1 So the parables of the lost sheep and lost coin are an apology, or defense, to Jesus’ critics, the Pharisees. At the same time, they are a proclamation of the good news to those who are lost. Reading of the parable is not as easy as it looks at first. Jesus spoke to the people in such a way that they would not understand. He explained what He was saying to only a few, who themselves had difficulty grasping it and sometimes denied it outright. There are a lot of ways to understand or, it is better to say interpret, the parables of Jesus one way an... ...) hi gave him the spiritual resurrection and gave back the power that the son had before. God's love for us is past understanding. When some people â€Å"did not welcome Jesus, James and John asked Jesus, â€Å"Lord, do you want us to call fire down from heaven to destroy them?†12†13. Jesus then rebuked them. Jesus came to save sinners, not to destroy them. Heavenly Father loves the lost so much that he gave his most valuable treasure--his Son--to die for the lost. Jesus loves the lost so much that he willingly died for the lost. The main idea off those parables is that we must love the sinner as Jesus and his father did. We must not react to abuse, with more abuse. We must act when abused, with love and need to be very careful not â€Å"to become a stumbling stone for the lost. Rather, we need to become a stepping stone for the lost to reach Christ†14. That is only a part of what parables tell us. It also tells us not to have judgmental attitude towards the lost. Like the oldest son had towards the youngest. The parable tells to demonstrate our love for sinners by bringing them to the Savior. Like Jesus did as he came to save the lost. So the main Point in those parables is GOD LOVES SINNERS.

Quotation Analysis Essay

â€Å"Adolescence is a period of rapid changes. Between the ages of 12 and 17, for example, a parent ages as much as 20 years.† The words in this quote, by an unknown author, invite the reader to take a deeper, more insightful glance into how teenagers set out on a youthful rebellion to grow up too fast and get away from their problems. The words also invite the reader to take a deeper more insightful glance into how parents begin to age as they raise teenagers. Through literature, the author uses the point of view of the adolescent and their guardian to express how they feel as the adolescent ascents into their teenage years and starts developing their own opinions. An unknown author portrays meaning through the quote which relates to the actions of adolescents as they move through the teenage stage of their life. As teenagers grow up, they face changes in their personal, social, and educational lives. First, they start to act like they are as old as time itself which is normal but can be taken too far. By doing things on their own without anyone’s help, they also start to become very independent which is only good most of the time until it starts to get out of hand. Teenagers may also start to think they are too old for certain activities or items. They begin to act as if they are too good for some items or activities which can appear as snobbish to those who are around them. Appearing as snobbish can be a turn off, which causes friendships to be lost and relationships to be broken. This will lead to isolation from others to avoid being heart-broken or hurt. Adolescents usually can isolate themselves for a few weeks or about a month, but sometimes the non-contact with friends or family members can get to their heads making them angry or emotionally disturbed. Yelling, screaming, disobeying, slamming doors all can be the outcome of isolation even to those who you love and cherish. Parents understand that their children can have their bad days but if it continues to be on a daily basis they fear that their child’s emotional state will lead them on the wrong path. The theme of the quote is that you should enjoy your life as a teenager with your parent’s guidance. Life is full of ups and downs and we have to make the most of them while we’re still young and energetic. Enjoying your childhood will have a big impact on how you are as a person as you get older. Making a lot of friends, trying new things, and just having fun can increase your mood but also how you feel as a person. Teenagers mustn’t forget that while having fun it’s also important to spend time with your family. As you get older, you will always be treated like a baby till your gray-haired. It might seem annoying at first but it just is a reminder that in your parent’s eyes, you will always be a child. Your parents won’t always be around to comfort you and take care of you, so don’t take their love for granted and treat them badly. Parents are at an age where they may not be up to date with the modern American customs since they might come from another place. The kids are so used American customs since most were born here and the parent just use methods to teach their children how they were taught when they were young. Parents think they are giving us another way to living but they don’t realize that some of their own customs are pretty ridiculous and embarrass their children. At this time children just don’t understand that these customs are part of you and you hurt your parents by being so embarrassed. Your guardian already has problems of their own and they don’t need their children to make them feel even more horrible. Parents will be begin to feel stressed, will feel older than they actually are, and might even start to gain gray hairs. You should treat your parents with the dignity and respect they deserve while also abiding by their customs and rules. An unknown author uses words that personally relate to the Broadway musical â€Å"13†. At a certain point in their life, a teenager is ready to make their own decisions , which is similar to the decisions made by a young man in the Broadway musical â€Å"13†. The main character in the play, Evan Goldman, feels like he has to impress all the people around him and ignore how he really feels. When moving through the teenage stage of your life, you will feel like you have to impress other people to fit in or make certain impressions on certain people. To impress these people teenagers could even resort to doing criminal acts when they know it can’t be right. Peer pressure from other teens is one of the main reasons others are led astray. Goldman also feels like a teenager doesn’t have any privileges to do the fun things in life until they grow much older. Adolescents always want to experience things such as getting their driver’s license or bungee jumpi ng but they have to realize that to experience the exciting things in life, you have to be very patient. Don’t try to rush through the important stages by acting as if you are a grown man/woman when you have great privileges awaiting you. The parents in the Broadway musical â€Å"13† are so busy worrying about their children and how they act, by the end of the musical the parents are all old and incapable of taking care of their children. While their children are getting into problems between friends, the parents can only stand aside and watch since they have other problems to deal with and their child won’t even tell them what’s going on. Unfortunately in the end the parents end up not being able to help their child leaving them to deal with it themselves whether in a good or bad way. However, without the parent’s guidance the children still settled their problems in a good non-violent way so the parents don’t have to worry anymore. An unknown author presents the point of view of the child through the explanation of what the child thinks about their parents and how they think certain situations should be dealt with. Life is about responsibilities and teens want to show their parents how responsible they are. Most adolescents feel like their parents treat them like they are still 5 years old and don’t realize that their baby has grown up into a teenager. They just want to have the privileges of a mature teenager but also be treated like one. Parents also insist on telling their adolescent what to do but it can also be unnecessary because the child already knows how and what to do. Children just want to learn from experience or try what they think is right without our parent’s comments. Teenagers sometimes just want to have a simple conversation but other times being left alone can also be great. They have their moments where they just want to sit down and think about certain things without having to explain their private thoughts to someone you won’t think will understand. Parents can be the most difficult to explain to if something has happened and you just need advice. Most of the time, they cannot relate to the experience or sometimes just don’t understand. This will make teens skeptical about telling their parents anything. From the parent’s point of view, the children need to just wake up and smell the cappuccino. Life is full of problems and obstacles but the only way you can overcome them is with the guidance of your parents. If you try to deal with your problems alone, you’ll only end up hurting yourself in the end. A parent’s goal in life is for their child to be successful and happy so if they’re not happy, the parent isn’t happy. Parent’s also wish their children would understand why they make certain decisions. It’s not that they want to ruin our lives, they just want to protect us. Besides, things happen a certain way for a certain reason. Our parents just want to take care of us and make sure we have a good future. An unknown author use words to personally relate to experiences in my life. Everything has to go exactly right and it has to go my way. I won’t lie, I dislike it when my father doesn’t listen to my opinion even though it matters. If we are debating on whether or not I can go on an overnight trip with my school, it would be nice if you would listen to my reasons of why I want to go and how I could benefit from it. I’m not saying you have to agree with my opinion but listening to it can influence your decision. He thinks that something will happen on the trip and is very overprotective. I listen to what you have to say and it will probably influence on how I think about the matter. Even when I ask my parents to help me with my decisions, they always tell me â€Å"whichever one suits you best†. I can never make my own decisions on certain matters and sometimes that can either be a good or bad thing. It’s good because once someone tells me what they think I can develop my own opinion off of that but it’s bad since sometimes certain people can cause me to make a bad decision that could affect how I feel about certain topics. By the end of the day, I can’t stop thinking about what has happened in the past and what will happen in the future. Usually people come to me about their problems, but sometimes I already have my own problems to deal with so I don’t need to be involved in any more. The fact of the matter is that everyone has a way they want things to be done but it won’t always go your way. Throughout the past years, teenagers have no respect for themselves and others. Respect can open and close many doors, however, this is one trait lacking in the teenagers of today. I see teenagers on the street cursing, fighting, and carrying themselves like their parents/guardians haven’t taught them anything since day one. I know your parents spent a lot of time teaching you what’s right and what’s wrong so why let it all go to waste. Teens think they are grown and know what’s right so they rebel against their parents but what they don’t know is that your parent’s have completed school and have a job to support you. Until you have a job and a degree to prove your successful, you can’t call yourself grown. What I have also noticed is that adolescents begin to skip school and ignored their education. Doing this could affect what high school or college they make it into. If teens are as grown as they act, they would accept their priorit ies and act like a mature young adult. Adolescence can be a difficult period, however the way it is handled will define who we are and who we will become as men and women of the future. The words in this quote by an unknown author, invite the reader to take a deeper, more insightful glance into how teenagers set out on a youthful rebellion to grow up too fast and get away from their problems. Teenagers just need to stop, take in all the love/ friendship surrounding them, and also just enjoy and make the most of their life.

The Law Of Attraction - 2130 Words

The law of attraction says that focusing on positive or negative thoughts will bring either those positive or negative thoughts into positive or negative experiences. Most people wouldn’t believe that such a theory could possibly work in their lives, but I personally believe that this theory is one of the main reasons that America has such a large gap in income. In the USA today, the gap between the rich and the poor has steadily increased to the point where there the middle class has all but disappeared. People are either getting richer or they are getting poorer. To a lot of people this may seem like a horrible thing and initially I also thought such income inequality was outrageous. However, as I researched the issue and discussed the†¦show more content†¦Over time, income inequality promotes growth in many areas and anyone pursuing an education receives an income reward for their efforts. Hongyi Li, an Ohio State University graduate with a PhD in Managerial Economics and Heng-fu Zou, a Harvard University graduate with A PhD in Economics, give a precise mathematical explanation of how income inequality promotes economic growth. They argue that: â€Å"by dividing government spending into production services and consumption services—the former enter the production function while the latter enter the utility function†¦.With this extension it is found that, within a typical political-economy mechanism on income taxation, more equal income distribution can lead to higher income taxation and lower economic growth.† (Li and Zou, 325) Li and Zou explain that by dividing government spending into equal amounts of production services and consumption services, it is found that this equilibrium of income will overall increase the general population’s taxes, and lower the economy s growth rate. Becker and Murphy illustrate Li and Zou’s theory by showing that throughout history, when income inequality increased, the rate of technological advancement also increased, and incomes for the average household also increased. Becker and Murphy focus on the importance of education when they discuss income inequality, which supports my hypothesis, but the main point is that
